The City of Peoria is looking to hire a Public Arts Program Manager. The purpose of this position is to develop, plan, organize and implement projects, activities, events, and services promoting the arts in a variety of settings throughout the city. This is accomplished by providing access to a wide variety of arts experiences, such as: exhibits, workshops, festivals, etc. for the public. The Public Arts Program Manager works in a team setting with staff to execute plans that are collaboratively developed to reflect the diversity of the community. This position works closely with the Peoria Arts Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission on all aspects of arts, culture, and place making, by gathering public input and making decisions for the public benefit in Arts and Culture. Key responsibilities include managing the deliverables and directives in the Arts and Culture Plan and managing and overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and conservation of the City's public art collection. This position also engages artists and arts organizations for a variety of programming and coordinates artist selections, serving as a liaison between artists, departments, designers, and community groups. This position may also complete special projects, as assigned.

  • Experience in the acquisition and installation of large-scale public art.
  • A working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures used in the arts or directly related industries.
  • A working knowledge of public arts programs and contemporary arts issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in visual arts, education, architectural design, a related field or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of four years related experience in arts, education, or design including experience administering or managing arts projects and/or programs. Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures used in the arts or directly related industries. Working knowledge of public arts programs and contemporary arts issues is preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire.
