As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a vital role in the Electrification Smart Power division - GPG Power Protection. You will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and compliance of procurement & logistics activities. This includes applying and implementing standards, tools, and processes towards achieving Key Performance Indicators established for the category such as cost reduction, improving average payment terms with suppliers, reducing sole sourced spend, improving quality and fulfillment from supply base along with on-time delivery, optimal costs and sustainability. This position will have a specific focus of Strategic Sourcing regarding supplier development.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and implement plans for local sourcing to reach the business targets
  • Support global sourcing initiatives as required
  • Negotiate agreements with suppliers to optimize inventory, quality, cost, and obtain best terms & conditions for ABB
  • Manage supply risk by eliminating single sources for new critical components
  • Apply and implement PL standards, tools and processes in the area of responsibility to secure quality, delivery, cost and sustainability
  • Responsible for all Procurement gate model activities, arranging project Procurement gate meetings as required and creating and maintaining the project related to Procurement documents
  • Create and update reports, as required, following the ABB standards
  • Execute and implement new directions within the area of responsibility
  • Apply standards on health, safety, environment and business ethics within operational work, contract management and negotiations
  • Deliver and participate in training programs as required for compliance and professional development
  • Execute effective and transparent communication internally, externally and between different units and centers
  • Standardize processes and implement routines as per group directives/instruction
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or business administration in Supply Chain Management, or related technical/STEM field of study
  • 5 plus years experience in a Procurement or Manufacturing Environment performing sourcing activities and/or new product supply base development creating commodity strategies ensuring quality, service and cost competitive supply base, performing procurement and materials management including identifying cost drivers, world demand and supply for commodities like steel, copper, aluminum, and zinc; negotiating procurement contracts, and commuting across teams and presenting to stakeholders
  • Experience in Cost Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and Proposals, knowledge of procurement tools, quality processes and understanding of commercial and legal terms and standard procurement procedures a plus
  • Electrical and automation industry background considered a must
  • Experience in supplier relations, Supplier Management, thorough knowledge of procurement tools, quality processes and understanding of commercial terms and standard procurement procedures a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, Self-motivated and strong communication and negotiation skills
  • ISM/CPSM certificate desirable (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
  • Strong SAP experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement, rapidly respond to unforeseen developments and initiate actions to reduce adverse impact
