Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the instrumentation and electrical equipment of two production units and the associated backup systems. This includes preventive and corrective maintenance related to analyzers, transmitters, control valves, and other electrical equipment.Participate in the Life Critical Safety program and perform job functions in a manner that meets or exceeds the company's HSE standards.
Follows all Food Safety, FDA, and cGMP policies in operating practices.
Instills safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.
Execute work orders, identify corrective maintenance activities, & enter work orders and PM's into the Maximo CMMS.
Lead the execution & improvement of the facility's I&E PMs.
Calibrate and maintain instrumentation (transmitters, switches, etc.) and control valves on production plants and liquid bulk systems
Maintain test equipment calibration & associated records.
Perform analyzer calibrations as required.
Maintain equipment records in both the CMMS & written form.
Rack in/out breakers & switchgear as necessary.
Maintain facility documentation (P&ID, loop sheets, spec sheets, etc.) for approved changes
Perform routine inspections on equipment as per manufacturer and Air Liquide standards.
Maintain and repair PLC's, computers equipment, single loop controllers and operator interfaces
Maintain spare parts inventory for instrumentation and control systems.
Ability to be on call and respond to plant sites within two hours as required when on call, and available by phone and able to reasonably support when not on duty.
Fosters open communication amongst all facility technicians in relation to best practices, operational/facility needs, safety issues/concerns, conflicts of interest between shifts/other departments, sharing operational knowledge/expertise.
Assists/works closely with lead production technician, maintenance coordinator or plant manager with daily facility needs.
Oversee instrumentation and/or electrical jobs with contractors and monitor contractor work quality (sign timesheets, manage housekeeping, inspect JQP's and Permits)
Conduct controls troubleshooting and repair, conduct electrical troubleshooting and repair, conduct instrumentation troubleshooting and repairs, conduct analyzer troubleshooting and repairs.
Actively participate in RCA's as required
High School Diploma, 2 year technical degree preferred
Minimum 4 years I&E experience, plant environment preferred
Working knowledge instrumentation (transmitters, switches, etc)
Working knowledge of electrical circuits
Knowledge of analyzers including calibration and troubleshooting
Knowledge of the use of a computerized maintenance management system
Knowledge of Maximo CMMS
Strong verbal & written communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks & prioritize work
Ability to maintain, repair, and calibrate analyzers, transmitters, control valves, etc.
Knowledge and expertise in use of Hart Communicators, Multimeters and RTD Calibrators
Basic understanding of the facility's control system
Thorough knowledge of the operation and safety aspects of the MCC/switchgear
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Has full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to work extended hours and shift work as business needs dictate
Ability to climb and ascend vertical ladders as required
Ability to enter and work in confined spaces
On call nights, weekends and holidays as required
