ABOUT US

Okland Construction, founded in 1918, is a regional general contracting and construction management company with nearly 1,000 employees and a growing workforce. It oversees design, engineering, bidding, contracting, construction, and inspection from the beginning to the end of the project and specializes in large-scale commercial concrete self-preform.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Concrete General Foreman (GF) will work closely together with the project superintendent and will oversee the total concrete construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. GF will have multiple foremen working under them. GF runs and organizes multiple crews, can develop a good working environment for the people, makes the most of the crews, and has an organized project. He will need to resolve conflicts or miscommunications quickly and in a friendly manner. Will need to make hard decisions associated with the formwork or any other project needs. Makes certain that the company is being represented in accordance with Okland's corporate values and concrete standards of quality work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads foremen and their crews to safely and successfully complete all tasks associated with self-perform concrete.
  • coordinates or assists the superintendent in planning work.
  • Coordinates forming systems and techniques with the superintendent.
  • Assists with developing schedules and sequence plans for projects.
  • Can follow project schedules and sequences leading one's crews accordingly.
  • Coordinates with other trade partners as needed to complete work scopes.
  • Has a strong sense of hazard recognition.
  • Manages and plans the project with a safety-first mindset.
  • Helps plan manpower for ramp up and ramp downs with the superintendent.
  • Ensures we have an adequate labor force to support project demands.
  • Orders and manages tools and materials to support the self-perform crews as needed.
  • Has a strong understanding of production rates.
  • This position requires consistent, timely, and predictable attendance.
  • Provides knowledge and expertise by working side by side with the Crew Leaders/Foreman.
  • Is a strong leader and motivates others.
  • Trains and mentors' others.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years' experience in self-perform concrete.
  • Has filled the role of a general foreman for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Knowledgeable with multiple forming systems and components
  • Proficient in reading and understanding all contract documents.
  • Proficient in reading formwork shop drawings
  • Proficient in reading and understanding a construction schedule.
  • Has the ability to navigate Pro-Core and is comfortable using technology.
  • Ability to follow stringent quality control procedures.
  • Ability to order Concrete needs (Inspections, Concrete, Concrete Pumps, etc.)
  • Can coordinate all aspects of inspections.
  • Understands Concrete Mix, Slumps, Additives Etc.
  • Understands different layout techniques and can support a layout crew.
  • Works in an organized manor
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive team attitude.
  • Has a strong safety-first mindset.
  • Has a general understanding of all aspects of commercial construction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • It is necessary to be able to climb scaffolding, formwork, and ladders.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at any given time.
  • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have the ability to have a good sense of balance and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Must have good physical stamina.
