Job Description:

Microchip is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join the Motor Control Applications team supporting the dsPIC family of Digital Signal Controllers.
This is a great opportunity to work with an experienced team, apply your mathematical and engineering skills, make machines move and spin, and improve the development of real-world products for customers worldwide.

Job Responsibilities
  • Embedded system development using dsPIC product families

  • Firmware design, programming, and debugging embedded systems to develop high efficiency and robust motor control solutions

  • Data acquisition, analysis, and visualization as needed to support firmware development

  • Development of technical collateral and training material

  • Customer support on Microchip devices and motor control solutions that help our customers shorten their time to market.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or at least 7+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Strong familiarity and professional experience in embedded C programming

  • Experience in the following areas:

    • Circuit design and analysis

    • Signal processing and control systems

  • Preferred qualifications: strong proficiency and professional experience in at least two of the following

    • Control systems, digital signal processing, and/or numerical algorithms

    • Circuit design and analysis

    • Power electronics

    • Modeling or control of motors (preferably permanent-magnet synchronous motors)

    • Firmware design and architecture

  • Python programming experience desirable

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and drive a project to completion

  • Experience as a technical lead is preferred, including

    • Directing and guiding others

    • Managing projects, tracking and presenting project status

    • Triaging priority of concurrent efforts
