Position Overview

The Employment Investigator supports Exact Sciences' compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws by conducting prompt, thorough, and fair investigations of workplace complaints concerning discrimination, harassment and retaliation, as well as other allegations. In addition to leading investigations, this position will be responsible for data analysis, tracking, trend analysis, root cause solutioning, and identifying best practices so that long-term solutions can be developed and applied. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in partnering with Exact Sciences' global legal and human resources teams to work on challenging legal and employee relations issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead complex employment-related investigations from intake through completion by developing investigation strategy, conducting witness interviews, analyzing electronic and written records, drafting investigation reports, communicating efficiently with key leadership throughout the investigation, and delivering investigative findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Create timely and comprehensive written investigation reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, relevant policies, summary of relevant evidence and findings, and basis for investigatory conclusion.
  • Critically analyze and recommend improvements to investigative processes, case tracking, data and reporting, and techniques in a scalable, consistent way.
  • Provide investigation case and issue trend data and actionable feedback to legal, human resources, and other stakeholders to reduce overall risk in the organization.
  • Work with legal team in the investigation of and preparation of responses to employment-related agency charges and litigation.
  • Provide highly responsive, accountable, accurate, and timely service to internal customer groups.
  • Protect confidential and sensitive information with utmost scrutiny, judgment, and care.
  • Comply with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Apply strong interpersonal skills, including approachability and the ability to build relationships.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 75% of a typical working day.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or another field relevant to the essential duties of the role such as business administration, industrial or labor relations, psychology, human sciences; or Associates degree in Human Resources or another field relevant to the essential duties of the role such as business administration, industrial or labor relations, psychology, human sciences, and 2 years of relevant experience in Human Resources in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting internal investigations related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, conflict of interest, or employee relations matters.
  • 2+ years of project management including small and/or large-scale initiatives.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of legal compliance obligations implicated by each HR process
  • Demonstrated willingness to continuously take initiative and/or lead responsibilities for the team and successfully handle cross functional, large scale high impact projects.
  • Computer skills to include internet navigation, email usage, and word processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience conducting internal investigations related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, conflict of interest, or employee relations matters.
  • JD, PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP or SHRM SCP.

Salary Range:

$109,000.00 - $174,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
