Job Description:

Microchip has an opportunity for a Principal Environmental Engineer to work in the Environmental, Health and Safety department at our Fab 2 facility in Tempe, AZ and Corporate facility in Chandler, AZ.

The Environmental Engineer will lead and participate in all aspects of risk-based environmental programs at Fab 2. The preferred candidate will demonstrate expertise in a broad range of environmental regulations with experience in semiconductor, electronics, manufacturing, or other chemically intensive manufacturing industries.

The candidate will be the primary contact for environmental compliance and manage interactions with regulatory agencies. The candidate will develop, coordinate, and perform environmental functions critical to the operations of the plant.

They will partner with Health & Safety, Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other various organizations to provide support and coordination of overall environmental compliance and implementation of procedures and training consistent with the Company's policies and guiding principles. They will build and maintain effective relationships with plant management and employees, community representatives and regulators.

Essential Functions

* Responsible for Environmental Management System performance at Fab 2 in Tempe and Corporate facilities in Chandler.

* Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and handles all contact with appropriate agencies.

* Oversee the development, planning, and implementation of the Environmental Management System including environmental policies, procedures, business processes and prevention initiatives.

* Participate in Corporate Environmental initiatives as required.

* Develop required Environmental training and conduct routine audits to ensure Environmental Management System and strategies are working.

* Use appropriate communications and escalations to inform upper management of all Environmental related events including updates until root cause, corrective & preventive actions are identified and implemented.

* Provides governance to ensure accurate systemic root cause and preventive actions are complete, as well are develop projects and initiatives

* Must be willing to work in the field with the Environmental Team on projects including compiling data for permits and reports.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Has experience and knowledge in the area of environmental management including, but not limited to Water, Air, RCRA, Storm Water, and ISO 14001

* Demonstrated success developing and managing a staff of Environmental professionals.

* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence, manage and drive results.

* Ability to apply Environmental and regulatory knowledge to business decisions including the development of implementation plans for applicable requirements.

* Strong ability to negotiate and manage effective change relative to Environmental aspects associated with people changes, equipment and process changes.

* Ability to run an effective meeting with focus on problem statement and results.

* Ability to build, motivate and lead cross-functional teams to meet project objectives, with a focus on measurable results.

* Can recognize the need, and effectively escalate in the event of conflict or misalignment that threatens the success of a project.

* Strong computer literacy skills including mastery knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel, word, power-point) skills.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive messages on complex content in front of peers.

Required Qualifications

* 5 years of EHS Management experience in semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, or other chemically intensive manufacturing industry.

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science or Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

* CIH, CSP, PE or other certifications

* ISO 14001 program development

* Experience in Arizona and Maricopa County rules and regulations for environmental compliance
