The Retirement Client Advisor generates new business opportunities and manages a customer portfolio defined in the business plan. This involves being the primary contact for new or existing customers, presenting formal product proposals, and maintaining ongoing prospects for new business development. This role focuses on building customer relationships and gaining loyalty by listening and responding to customers' needs.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains a high level of knowledge of the retirement industry.
  • Delivers exceptional service in managing his/her book of business and building client relationships.
  • Partners with HTLF Portfolio Management and Research to fully understand market narrative, manager selection and monitoring, strategy decisions, and effectively communicate recommendations.
  • Regularly meets with clients for on-going plan/investment reviews. Educates and communicates with clients about market conditions, plan/account investments, performance, strategy, changes in regulatory or tax environment, and other factors which may influence plan decisions.
  • Provides consultation to plan sponsors on the development of a participant education program to support the client's objectives. Facilitate or deliver participant education and advice.
  • Creates and maintains networking relationships to create a pipeline of business. Achieves annual new business revenue goals for assigned accounts and/or territory.
  • Maintains client information in a CRM tool.
  • Understands the benefits of HTLF products and effectively differentiate HTLF Retirement Services from the competition.
  • Provides interdisciplinary expertise to clients when needed while partnering with bank leadership and other departments.
  • Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Business Administration/Management, Finance
  • Or Related Field required or
  • equivalent work experience required
  • 5-7 years in the financial services industry with a minimum of 3 years specific experience in a sales role required
  • Broad knowledge of financial markets, asset allocation principles, and financial products. Experience in investment manager selection and monitoring a plus required
  • Prior experience with DC retirement plans and understanding of regulations related to ERISA, DOL, and IRS required
  • Solid understanding of plan design, compliance and testing, and industry standards required
  • Good written/oral communication, organization and client service skills required
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with internal and external clients required
  • Ability to interpret documents and resolve technical problems required
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and recommend appropriate follow-up action required
  • Chartered Financial Analyst - CFA - CFA Institute preferred
  • Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) - Investment Management Consultants Association - IMCA preferred
  • Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC) - National Association of Plan Advisors preferred
  • Certified Financial Planner - CFP - Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. preferred

  • Standard Business Hours:

    Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Exempt employees are expected to work as long as it takes to accomplish the goals and deliverables of the position; typically, a minimum of 40-45 hours per week.

The targeted salary for this role is:

$106,304.00 - $138,195.00

Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location of the specific role as well as work experience, education, and skills of the selected candidate.
