Job Summary

Promote, reinforce, and support the ACE and Hoop of Learning programs by assisting students with navigating their way to overcoming obstacles that may impede their college success. Contact ACE/HOL students at least once a week to meet individually or in small groups throughout the semester. Student Success Coach will provide information about the different resources offered at the college. Provides support for a successful and empowering learning experience by developing a positive rapport with a diverse population of ACE & HOL students.

  • FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Minimum Qualifications

1+ years of college experience after high school graduation
Must have effective oral and written communication skills
Experience working with Google Products, Microsoft Office, or similar applications
Demonstrated academic success by maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Be available to work up to 19.5 hours per week
Be available to work Saturdays during the Fall and Spring semesters
Follows up and checks-in with assigned students
Serve as a role model of positive behavior and attitude
Help students adjust and become academically successful
Maintain confidentiality of students and maintain appropriate relationships

Self-motivated
Experience in formal or informal peer-to-peer mentoring
Experience in a leadership role in a student club/organization, campus committee or college project
Ability to prioritize tasks and be organized
Ability to work to a high level with minimal supervision
