Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.

Compensation Minimum:$20.00

Compensation Maximum:$25.00

Summary:

As a student intern, you will assist in growing an existing innovation program through sourcing new startups, writing technical summaries, conducting research, organizing databases and editing documents to meet organizational objectives. Under the direction of a senior level employee or manager you will work on projects that support the business area goals and results. You will also complete tasks using both interpersonal and technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment, while adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment.

Desired candidate would be an MBA student or someone going into their senior year of undergrad at the time of the internship who has strong written and analytical skills and interest or focus in Risk, Insurance or Entrepreneurship.

The intern will be involved in an accelerator program for startups that brings together world-class entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, and risk professionals who guide participating founders on prioritizing objectives to increase their probability of success.

Example Areas of Innovation Include:
* AI/ML and new or unique data for
enhancing decision making
* New risk management/transfer methods
* Cybersecurity and cyber risk
* New and interesting insurance coverage
* Safety & loss prevention through data,
models, sensors, and wearables
* Disaster response
* New or enhanced distribution channels
* Workflow automation for insurance or
risk analysis

Primary Accountabilities

  • Develop an understanding of American Family's business environments, corporate culture and structure to support work initiatives.
  • Maintain work efficiency and respond positively to a changing environment.
  • Open to and supports new ideas, systems and procedures. Generate creative ideas and actions in response to changing situations.
  • Adjust strategies or tactics in situations where the current approaches are ineffective.

Education/Licenses/Designations
  • Must be in pursuit of a post-secondary degree or certificate during the semester of the internship.
  • Pursuing post-secondary education in a related major to the internship.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
  • Basic analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience working within a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of developing and managing project work.
